What do you get when you mix female empowerment and a classic punk rock show? You get the Portland-based Misfits tribute band, The Missfits, an all-female led punk band that makes sure to give you the punk show experience you never thought you would need.

The Missfits come up on stage and immediately get you started with all-time classic Misfits songs. Watching the crowd, you can tell by the first song that this band can rile up a group of punks with ease. Young and old in studded, ripped jean jackets or sweater-vests, there was not a bored face among the lot. Everyone had a favorite song to dance to, whether they were bouncing off of the walls, or doing nothing more than standing still and basking in the music.

Each of the four women on that stage showed the genuine love and passion they had for the music they played on stage through every pluck of the guitar string, or slam of the drum. There was nothing but pure punk energy to prove that in fact, punk is not dead, and won’t be any time soon. The Missfits had us all on our feet and feeling empowered. Their feminist power, love and message of equality for all made everyone in attendance feel welcome and unstoppable.

It was an unconventional punk show with a kick to it, enough to make you want to see the all-girl group again and again. It’s a party in Port City Music Hall when the Missfits take the stage.
